cha·os the·o·ry - Chaos theory explains that within the visible randomness of complex, chaotic systems, there are inherent repetition, patterns, self-organization,
interconnectedness, self-similarity, and constant feedback loops.
Since 2008, the Brimstone has curated an annual nostalgia art show for artists, geeks, gamers, pop-culture fans, and collectors. Each year, we feature works inspired by these themes, along with the overt theme that almost anything can fit the theme. With vibrant colors, engaging aesthetics, and visual diversity, this show is anything but predictable.
As this exhibit evolved, it has begun to take on a more immersive flow, influenced by co-curators, Ashley Royer and Kat Godsey. To fit with this emerging trend, each year presents a sub-theme -- a challenge to create works inspired by the topic. This year's sub-theme is video games.
The Curioddities Art Show is a community collaboration, proudly hosted by the Brimstone Historical Society and Sulphur Parks & Recreation. There are no fees for entering, displaying, or selling artworks in this exhibition. Likewise, anyone and everyone is welcome to submit work. There is no age limit or prerequisite for acceptance to this gallery.
Artists who wish to participate should submit their entries via Google Forms
Chaos Theory 2025 has been funded by a grant from the Louisiana Division for the Arts - We were able to assist over 20 artists with printing & framing their work for this show!
The Chaos Theory Art Show promises is a remarkable event, providing artists with a platform to explore the nostalgic realm of video games while embracing the essence of chaos. Artists and gamers alike are encouraged to participate and contribute to this vibrant exhibition celebrating the intersection of art, nostalgia, and creative expression.
